Where are They Now?

A TESTIMONY FROM Joy Palm .....

First of all, I would like to apologize for allowing years to pass without writing you. Thank you. Thank you for your commitment to Jesus. Your faith in the Lord profoundly changed my life. I am so happy and grateful that I experienced Camp Tracey. The foundation of my life can be directly attributed to you, the Camp, and the staff members who loved me so much.
I learned about Jesus, accepted Him as my Saviour, read the Bible, learned scripture (that I still know today), learned songs (that I still sing today), and learned what true, unconditional love felt like. Those are crucial events that altered my future in the most wonderful ways. I am so proud of what I learned at Camp. The experience made me real and appreciative of everything I have and do. I cannot put into words the magnitude of my graciousness.
I learned how to cook, clean, do laundry, transplant greens, harvest corn, make cream corn, work and not complain. I learned to be excited to go to bed, because I had worked all day. I learned that I was worthy and special. I learned how to slaughter a hog!!--who else in my life was ever going to teach me that fine skill?--cure ham, and make real sausage. You believed me when others did not. You stood up for me and supported me. Thank you for that. You always smiled when you saw me (that makes a huge impact on a teenagers life). Camp Tracey taught us consistency, teamwork, discipline and a strong work ethic, which was something I needed. I come from a long line of laziness!!

Every day I use all that I learned at Camp Tracey. You set a standard and now have a living legacy to show for it. I cannot imagine--and honestly do not want to know--how sad my life could have turned out to be. The total opposite of what I would have been, had I not gone to Camp Tracey, is what I am today. Praise the Lord. I thank Jesus for Camp Tracey and your life's mission. It has been ten years but it feels like a summer ago since I left. Again, I thank you. It was worth it--all the hard work made a difference in my life. I love you all.

Sincerely,

Joy Palm ("Ivory Snow")
